Fat People is also people

Got a surprise gift from a friend and now I finally had sort of basic home theatre setup. Watched "Crounching Tiger Hidden Dragon" again with the new audio system and reconfirmed that I love Yo Yo Ma and Dun Tan.

Had millions of things to do but still sat in front of the computer web surfing. Came across an blog article from a girl named Jane in Shanghai. The title is "Fat People is also people". Hilarious. Also relieved of my almost daily visit to fast food chains and the super high caloried apply pie (I thought I did well by replacing french fries with apply pie ). BTW, the summer is gone.

Yemanja Brasil

Stroll along downtown Clayton for the annual art fair in the afternoon and decide to go to the boat house for a dinner near the lake, drive down there to find out it is jam packed. We finally end up in Sourlard for a meal in a patio. What a surprise? Benton Park is lovely in this summer night and Yemaja Brasil is the little gem in the neighbourhood. I fall in love with the cozy place the minute I step into the green door. The deck is very nicely decorated with casual theme and comfy chairs. The food are ok, not bad, but the decor and ambiance shine.

The same old evening

Walk the same walk after dinner in forest park, see some familiar faces passing by, the music is playing and the night is gentle.

I don't know how many times I have been doing this routine. I lost count of it. I used to take walks in the Tulane Campus and Audubon Park, those good old days... I can still hear the steps of my red flipflops.

Summer is close to an end

Watched a fabulous french movie "an affair of love" during the labor day weekend.

This summer is highlighted by lots, lots of memories and very few photos...

Memory Stick Error Again

Just came back from a fabulous brunch party in Sydney Street three story stone house. Lovely, lovely. I took some photos and tried to download them into my PC, the memory stick died. Browsed the web for some help and no good solution found. Don't want to format them since all the photos are going to be lost.

Charm - by Howard Moss

Intelligence endures
The sea-shake of the heart,
Its flops and opening nights,
But the body's theatre alone
Eludes even its playwrights:
Too soon the script is done,
The curtain down. Applause.
Bravo! Encore! The lights...
And a rush to the doors.

Because the world's police
Have instinct on the books
Innocence is nice
But not for long. Good looks
Turn bad, and time's as famous
For playing dirty tricks
As virtue is, whose price
Is beautifully to skate
On increasingly thin ice.

The beauties of the brain
And body are not charm -
Though charming they can be.
Charm is a sympathy
That sometimes draws a line
Under the unProfound
By an irony of tone,
And it is mostly missed
Once it is heard and gone.

Old bones know charm the best;
They see the trees for the wood,
The shades at their light task,
The magical latitude
That time cannot redress;
Their knowledge is their loss:
Under the worldly mask
They take off at their risk
They feel the pull of childhood.

Life adds up to not much.
Subtracted every day,
Another sparrow falls
Oblivious from its perch.
That truth lacks charm, it's true,
Directly looked at, but
There is that version which
Can sometimes sound the depths
With the lightest touch.

Labor Day Weekend 2005. An quite and relaxing labor day weekend for me. An early morning hike of 6.75miles in the Pere Marquette, lunch at Miss Saigon, a big nap in the afternoon, followed by Greek Festival in the evening and coffee at Cafe Cartel...
Wake up late late, did laundry and house cleanning, a walk in the wyndown blvd, watched the constant gardner, a Japanese dinner and blues festival in downtown landings. The Chunky Monkey (Ben and Jerry ice cream) is a surprisingly good choice. Monday is spent watching DVDs, bookstores and walking in the neighbourhood.

Cherry Garcia, which was named after the famous musician Jerry Garcia, is my favorite.

"In 1987, ice cream manufacturers Ben and Jerry named one of their flavors Cherry Garcia after this musician. Since then, it has become the most popular of the Ben and Jerry's flavors. For a month after Garcia's death, the ice cream was made with black cherries as a way of mourning."

Superman

Never been a big fan of Superman even when I was a kid. Tonight, I sat still watching the show and loved it. How strange!

Wedding in May

Wedding in the Botanic Garden
Had a walk in Tower Grove Park this afternoon and went to Little Saigon in Central West End for their curry chicken rice, yummy...

It seems most of my days are spent walking in the lovely blocks and parks, chatting with friends over beer and tea, daydreamming... Spring time.
